Wardrobe quotation format with measurements and sample
A wardrobe quotation should explain the storage you will deliver, the material and finish, and the measurement method behind the price. Width and height alone are not a complete specification.
How to calculate a wardrobe quotation area
If you and the client agree to price the front elevation in square feet, multiply the wardrobe's width in feet by its height in feet. For a 6 ft wide, 8 ft high wardrobe, the area is 6 × 8 = 48 sq ft. At an illustrative ₹1,400 per sq ft, the amount is 48 × ₹1,400 = ₹67,200 before other charges, discounts or applicable taxes.
Specify the depth, internal layout, shutter type and what the rate includes. Front-elevation area is a pricing basis, not the total quantity of boards you need to purchase. Prepare material costing separately from the client quotation.
For measurements in inches, divide by 12 before using a rate per square foot. For example, 72 inches × 96 inches becomes 6 ft × 8 ft. Round quantities using the method agreed for the project and show that method clearly.
Sample wardrobe quotation table
This example demonstrates arithmetic and scope separation. The rates are illustrative and should be replaced with your own costing.
| Work item | Quantity | Rate | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wardrobe, 6 ft × 8 ft front elevation | 48 sq ft | ₹1,400 / sq ft | ₹67,200 |
| Separate loft, 6 ft × 2 ft front elevation | 12 sq ft | ₹1,000 / sq ft | ₹12,000 |
| Optional accessory, excluded from base rate | 1 set | ₹3,000 / set | ₹3,000 |
| Subtotal including optional accessory | ₹82,200 | ||
Identify the loft as a separate item only if the main wardrobe dimensions exclude it. Keep optional accessories clearly marked, and show the total for the scope the client actually approves.
Describe more than the outside dimensions
- Carcass: material, thickness, back panel and internal finish.
- Shutters: hinged or sliding, finish and edging details.
- Layout: shelves, hanging spaces, drawers and partitions.
- Hardware: hinges or sliding system, handles and drawer runners.
- Extras: mirrors, lighting, locks, pull-outs or special accessories.
- Installation: transport, assembly, site fitting and any excluded civil work.
Attach or refer to the approved internal layout when possible. A client comparing quotes should be able to see whether two wardrobe rates cover the same work.
Common quotation mistakes
Avoid counting a loft twice, quoting different measurement bases under one “sq ft” label, or adding hardware that the base rate already includes. Check that the specification matches the supplier costs used to build your rate. Mark unconfirmed dimensions as provisional instead of presenting them as final measurements.
When a client changes from hinged shutters to sliding shutters or requests more drawers, issue a dated revision with the changed specification and total. Do not rely on an old PDF plus a verbal price change.
